Last night, Monday, May 10, The New Group opened their latest production of The Kid. This marks the final production in The New Group's current 2009-2010 season, which featured Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger and most recently, the hit revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke. The Kid plays a limited Off-Broadway engagement through May 29 at The New Group @ Theatre Row. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the opening night after party arrivals.
Beginning November 10th, Ben Crawford has been performing the title role of ‘Shrek'. Crawford replaces Tony Award® nominee Brian d'Arcy James, who departed after the performance on Sunday, November 8th to appear in Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Time Stands Still.
The cast and crew of SHREK THE MUSICAL, the Tony Award-winning production, celebrated the show's one year anniversary on Broadway with a reception on stage at the Broadway Theatre on Sunday, November 8th after the matinee performance. Cupcakes were provided to the cast by CRUMBS Bake Shop. The production also said goodbye to original 'SHREK' star Brian d'Arcy James who played his final performance in the title role yesterday as well.

Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James will have his very own Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James had his very own caricature unveiling at the world famous Broadway eatery, Sardi's Restaurant (234 West 44th Street) during a private reception. James' likeness joins the ranks of Broadway royalty who have been honored with a caricature on the famous walls of Sardi's. The ceremony took place on Thursday, September 10th.
