Before there was Hamilton, there was Lin-Manuel Miranda's cutting edge musical masterpiece In the Heights.

In the Heights might have wrapped up its Broadway run back in 2011, but creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is still treating fans to lost treasures from the show. Below, check out a demo track of 'I'm Out'- a cut song, in which Lincoln Rosario, Nina's brother, aspires to a songwriting career and quits the family taxi business.

As Miranda revealed last year, he's working on a new project: The Hamilton Mixtape, based on the life of Alexander Hamilton - yes, that Alexander Hamilton. 'Did you read Hamilton's biography? Every page is a hip-hop story, with so much of it echoing the tragic story of hip-hop figures: bastard orphan, entirely self-made man, self-taught, masterful at language, self-destructive tendencies, sex scandals,' Miranda said of his unusual subject. Check out 'Hamilton at 17' below!
Among those speaking in support of the Uptown Arts Stroll is Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS. View Miranda and more discussing New York arts below!
As we first reported earlier, at the curtain call the show's love story mixed with real life, as Darren Ritchie, who played Jack the White Knight proposed to his co-star, Janet Dacal, who played Alice. In the audience, there were tears of joy mixed with the sadness for the show closing. Now, the first videos are making their way onto YouTube!
At Wesleyan University, IN THE HEIGHTS creator Lin-Manuel Miranda first brought his piece to the stage. As they say, the rest is history, and the production seen here would go on to change, evolve, and eventually collect four 2008 Tony Awards - including Best Musical and Best Original Score. Miranda himself says of the clip featured below: 'Nina Rosario's first song in my first draft of In The Heights, which I directed at Wesleyan University's '92 Theater. In this draft, Nina is on her way home from her first year at Yale. For the lyrics to this song, go to Linmanuel.com/blog.'
