Full casting was announced today for MEMPHIS, an original Broadway musical, opening Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Shubert Theatre (225 W. 44th Street) following critically-acclaimed and sold-out engagements at La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. Previews begin on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

Wildhorn's WONDERLAND Announces New Members Of Creative Team For Tampa Premiere

The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center today announces several additions to the creative team for Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure. According to producer Judith Lisi, president and CEO of TBPAC, Marguerite Derricks will choreograph the production and Ron Melrose will serve as music supervisor and provide vocal and dance arrangements as well as incidental music. Susan Hilferty, Neil Patel and Paul Gallo will design the costumes, sets and lights respectively, while Jon Weston will design the sound and Sven Ortel will design video and projections.

The Rock Tenor makes its debut this summer beginning July 8, starring vocalist Rob Evan (Broadway performer and lead singer for the multi-platinum band The Trans-Siberian Orchestra), who conceived the show with director Vincent Marini (former Producing Artistic Director of New Jersey's Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center) officially opens July 15 and closes August 23. The Rock Tenor fuses rock and roll anthems, Broadway classics, opera favorites, country rhythms and classical melodies in a unique performance that showcases these familiar works in a whole new light. Tony Award winner John Lloyd Young might be eyeing a return to the stage. In a Tony night interview with Young and Frankie Valli, the actor stated that he and Valli have been discussing a return to JERSEY BOYS. Young said that while he recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue other opportunities, he hopes to return to the blockbuster show at some point.

Previews will begin Thursday, March 4, 2010 following a pre-Broadway engagement at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre in Chicago that begins November 13.

La Jolla Playhouse announces updates to its 2009/2010 season. Alfred Hitchcock?s The 39 Steps, based on the beloved Alfred Hitchcock thriller, adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, directed by Maria Aitken, will replace the previously-announced Page-to-Stage production of The Hudsucker Proxy. The 39 Steps will run August 11 ? September 13 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.
