Viewers from across the country will get a preview of the eagerly anticipated new Broadway musical Newsies during the 85th Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Newsies will take to the streets to perform the show-stopping tap number 'King of New York' live in Herald Square during the first hour of the television broadcast, beginning at 9AM Eastern on NBC.
With Broadway's fall offerings celebrating their opening nights, attention has turned to what shows are slated to open for the 2012 spring season. It hasn't yet been set as a particularly full season for new musicals, but as the New York Times reported last week, that could easily change by the time the spring rolls around.

According tot he NJ.com, nine theatre-goers were asked to leave during intermission of Paper Mill Playhouse's NEWSIES last week due to 'unruly behavior.' Theatre representative Shayne Miller commented on the incident: 'There was an altercation, something about poking another patron in the back. They were being rowdy and loud, talking on their cell phones in the theater.'
Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) will host a Newsies Fan Day at the Millburn theater on Sunday, October 2nd. Newsies Fan Day is an opportunity for Newsies fans nationwide to celebrate this cult phenomenon. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a Newsies Fan Reception at 5pm in the Renee Foosaner Art Gallery on the campus of Paper Mill Playhouse. At 6:00pm, there will be a Newsies Cast Talk-Back where both the stage cast and members of the film cast will discuss Newsies. The Newsies Fan Package costs $25 and includes: the Newsies Fan Reception, Newsies Cast Talk-Back and a Newsies gift. To participate in Newsies Fan Day, you must hold a ticket to the Newsies fan performance at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 2nd, sold separately. Radio Disney will be on campus to join in the festivities.

Peter and the Starcatcher, written by Rick Elice, directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, based upon the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, opened Wednesday, March 9, 2011 to rave notices and set a record for the highest grossing day in NYTW history.
