In October 2014, the New Museum will present the first major solo museum exhibition in the United States of artist Chris Ofili's work. Occupying the Museum's three main galleries, 'Chris Ofili: Night and Day' will span the artist's influential career, encompassing his paintings, drawings, and sculptures.

Drawing from a rich legacy of Cantonese films, while promoting a strong sense of singularity through his formal inventiveness, director Patrick Lung Kong (b. 1935) had a profound impact on following generations of filmmakers, including John Woo and Tsui Hark, and remains widely acknowledged as one of the great pioneers of Hong Kong cinema. To pay tribute to the achievements of this prodigious filmmaker, Museum of the Moving Image will present Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: The Cinema of Patrick Lung Kong, a nine-film screening series featuring rare titles imported from Hong Kong, from August 15 through 24, 2014. The series is sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic Trade Office New York and presented with support from the New York Asian Film Festival/Subway Cinema.
The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, announced today the touring programs and productions for the 2014-2015 Season. The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the Globe's revival of N. Richard Nash's classic romantic comedyThe Rainmaker. Celebrating the art of David Driskell and in honor of his eightieth birthday, DC Moore Gallery's new exhibition, Creative Spirit: The Art of David C. Driskell, features outstanding examples of his work from more than five decades. In his paintings, drawings, and collages, Driskell unites a strong modernist impulse with personal vision, memory, and aspects of traditional culture. As an artist, scholar, and curator, he has made many contributions to the field that have changed the way we think about African American art. Organized by co-?curators Julie L. McGee and Adrienne L. Childs for the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at the University of Maryland, College Park, the exhibition continues at DC Moore through February 4.
