9 - 11 December, Pontine Theatre presents A New England Christmas at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye NH. The program includesChristmas Everyday by William Dean Howells, Once on Christmas by Dorothy Thomas and Cap'n Eli's Best Ear, by Frank Stockton. Performances areFriday at 7pm, Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $24 and may be purchased in advance at -- www.pontine.org. Wareham is thrilled to announce the second show in the Laguna Playhouse 2016-2017 season, BILLY & RAY, written by Mike Bencivenga and directed by Michael Matthews. "Old Hollywood comes to Laguna Beach in this comedy about the making one of the most iconic films of the 1940s. I have been wanting director Michael Matthews to direct at the Playhouse for so long and think this is the perfect show for his unique vision. Our audiences and subscribers are in for a hilarious and wild ride," says Wareham. BILLY & RAY will begin previews on Wednesday, October 5; will open on Sunday, October 9 and will run through Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.
As Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party will receive its first major London production at The Other Palace, playing from Saturday 11 February to Saturday 1 April 2017, with a press night on Monday 20 February. As the characters Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, Mark Edward Lang and Alison J. Murphy seem to be a perfect fit in the play about the famous Broadway actors. Lang and Murphy are married in real life and have been performing together for many years. Recently visiting San Antonio, Texas, BWW had a chance to sit down and chat with them about their roles and about the show LUNT AND FONTANNE 'THE CELESTIALS OF BROADWAY.'
Next week, the national touring cast of 42nd STREET arrives at Dallas Summer Musicals, featuring a cast of 38 accomplished actors, singers and tap dancers. Although many of the touring gypsies currently consider New York City their home base, four of them were raised locally in the Lone Star State, and cannot wait to put on their dancing shoes back home next week. While on a one-week lay off from the tour this week, I caught up with Texas's own Caitin Ehlinger, Matthew J. Taylor, Mandy Modic and Sarah Fagan. The show runs in Dallas from June 28th to July 10th, and at Forth Worth's Bass Hall July 12th-17th.
