The production, which began performances on January 29, has been extended for an additional 4 weeks. The new closing date is now April 25.

While traveling and visiting museums, Green realized that 'the best artists are those who create from what they know best.' It took a trip to Switzerland and Mexico to return him to Gardens Corner and begin his body of work 'Gullah Life reflections.'
Tonight, Sunday September 7, 2008 Rent will close at the Nederlander Theatre after the evening performance after playing 5,124 performances and 16 previews. On Friday, September 5th, in celebration of Rent and the enduring memory of Jonathan Larson, Kathy 'Life' Kirkpatrick, owner of East Village's fabled Life Café, a favorite hangout of Larson and an important location featured in the musical itself, unveiled a special dedicated bench in his name.
On September 7, 2008 the curtain will fall on Broadway for the final performance of Rent. In celebration of the show and its history making run, we gave the cast a portable FLIP video camera so they could give us their view of life backstage. As they were able to film themselves, the FLIP video footage allows you to see and hear Rent from the actor's unique perspective.
