CABARET, THE WIZ and More Set for DTC 2010-2011 Lineup; Season Announced

Dallas Theater Center Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty announced today the company's 2010-11 season slated for the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the historic Kalita Humphreys Theater. DTC's 52nd season will include two classics never seen before at DTC, a wildly funny comedy, two musicals, a world premiere, and two grand dames of theater.

The Hypocrites, in association with Chicago DCA Theater, present the Broadway classic Cabaret. The production, directed by Matt Hawkins, comes to Chicago DCA Theater's Storefront Theater at 66 E. Randolph Street, from April 15 to May 23, 2010. Members of the press are invited to the opening performance on Saturday, April 17, at 7:30 pm.

Alexander Gemignani also will star in and direct the show. Finian's Rainbow star Kate Baldwin; triple threat Melinda Sullivan; and cabaret star Carole Bufford join the cast which includes Marc Kudisch (9 to 5); Chad Kimball (Memphis); and from Ragtime; Quentin Earl Darrington, Bobby Steggert, Ron Bohmer, and Christiane Noll. Christopher Fitzgerald (Finian's Rainbow) acclaimed hoofer, Kendrick Jones are also featured.

Webster University?s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents the Tony award-winning musical ?Cabaret,? with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and based on the play by John van Druten and the original stories of Christopher Isherwood. The production runs from April 29 to May 3 in the Browning Theatre of Webster?s Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Road. Curtain time is 8 p.m., except Sunday, which will have a 2 p.m. matinee only. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. For ticket reservations, call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch will lead the New York Philharmonic in New York Moments, a concert featuring iconic musical moments from Broadway and film, with stars from the stage and screen (in alphabetical order): Ashley Brown, who originated the title role in Mary Poppins on Broadway; Maria Friedman, who played Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and Marian in The Woman in White in London; Joel Grey, whose numerous starring roles have included the famous M.C. in Cabaret, on Broadway and in the film; Jennifer Holliday, one of the original Dreamgirls; Liza Minnelli, last seen on Broadway in Liza's at The Palace; Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot, stars of the current Lincoln Center Theater production of South Pacific; and 15-year-old up-and-coming singer, Nikki Yanofsky. The concert will take place Monday, April 20, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. All except Mr. Hamlisch and Ms. O'Hara are making their New York Philharmonic debuts.

TRINITY REP Announces Its 2009-2010 Season

Trinity Rep is proud to announce that its 2009-2010 season will start with a bang: Cabaret will kick off what promises to be a lively year of love and levity at Trinity Rep. The scintillating musical written by Joe Masteroff with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb will be followed by the touching romantic comedy Shooting Star by Steven Dietz (October-November); the classic hijinks of William Shakespeare?s Twelfth Night (will also be the focus of Project Discovery Plus educational slot) (January-February); MacArthur Fellow Sarah Ruhl?s quirky look at modern connections, Dead Man?s Cell Phone (February-March); Neil Simon?s inimitable touchstone of American comedy, The Odd Couple (April-May); and Pamela Gien?s lyrical and haunting drama, The Syringa Tree (April-May).
The unified curtain time of 7:30 PM for all evening performances will continue in addition to 2 PM matinees. A Christmas Carol will follow this schedule with the exception of Sundays, when performances will occur at noon and 5 PM.
