London's Good Night Out to Present A STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION 6/16-7/17

From June 16 to July 17, Cath Farr for Good Night Out will present the UK premiere of Jack Hibberd's play A STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION at the Cock Tavern Theatre in London. The production will be directed by, designed by, and starring Mark Little.

On Saturday, May 1, the Straight for Equality Awards Gala honored Liza Minnelli at the New York Marriott Marquis. Liza Minnelli was presented with the 2010 Straight for Equality in Entertainment Award. This honor recognizes Liza's lifelong role as a Straight Ally of the LGBT community. Additional honorees included NFL Super Bowl XLIV star, now of the Cleveland Browns Scott Fujita, and international food services corporation Sodexo. The event was hosted by comedienne Caroline Rhea, with the live auction hosted by actor and 'Amazing Race IV' winner Reichen Lehmkuhl. BroadwayWorld was on hand to celebrate.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that there's 'good buzz' coming out of a reading earlier this week of Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys, produced by Roundabout, that starred Elliot Gould and Richard Benjamin and was directed by Lonny Price. Riedel says to look for the production this fall.

Vassallo Replaces Carlos for Met's ATTILA Performances 3/19, 3/22, 3/27

Franco Vassallo will sing the role of Ezio in Verdi's Attila on March 19, 22, and 27, replacing Carlos Alvarez, who is ill. Vassallo is currently appearing at the Met as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, the role of his 2005 company debut. Last season the Italian baritone was Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore, and in 2007, audiences around the world saw him as Riccardo in The Met: Live in HD transmission of I Puritani, now available in DVD.
