Amore Opera opens its holiday season with Johann Strauss II's Die Fledermaus at its new home, the Theatre at St. Jean's on Manhattan's Upper East Side. This bubbly, musical tale of romantic intrigue and merry revenge will be presented in full production with full orchestra conducted by Douglas Martin, with stage direction by Amore Opera's Artistic Director Nathan Hull. The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2015 with an impressive assembly of classics, cult favorites, and beloved films. The 2015 series will run today, June 5-August 9 at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) and will feature 29 films over nine weeks (no films scheduled for the week of the Fourth of July).

Last March, the West Coast premiere of the Yiddish Purim musical Di Megileh of Itzik Manger enjoyed a huge success, with four standing-room-only performances at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay. In celebration of the 2015 Purim season, the New Yiddish Theater, in conjunction with the 30th Jewish Music Festival, takes pride in presenting a reprise with the same all-star lead performers and an updated choral arrangement. Performances will be given at 8 pm on February 26 & 28, March 1 & 3, with a matinee on Monday, March 2 at 1:30 pm. As before, all of the spoken and sung Yiddish will be super-titled in English.

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the roster for Lincoln Center's fourth multidisciplinary White Light Festival, October 24 through November 23, 2013. The Festival's focus is music's capacity to illuminate the many dimensions of our interior lives, with a particular emphasis this year on the power of the voice. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 23 performances, films, and events featuring seven premieres and debuts by artists and companies from more than a dozen countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the U.K., Mali, Estonia, Italy, Austria, Canada and the U.S. New to this edition of the Festival is White Light on Film, film screenings followed by discussions with their directors. Other Festival components include: a panel discussion focused on the subject of time, pre- and post-performance artist discussions, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges.
