Stars Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Gwen Stewart reprise the roles they originated on Broadway in "RENT: The Broadway Tour," the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical written by Jonathan Larson.
RENT, considered by many the most exuberant and original American musical to come along in a decade, has single-handedly reinvigorated Broadway and is taking the country by storm. RENT captures the heart and spirit of multitude generations.
On the evening of Saturday, January 29, two of the original stars of Jonathan Larsen's Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical RENT, Adam Pascal (Roger) and Anthony Rapp (Mark), shared a double-bill concert at the Barclay Theatre in Irvine, California. The concert was part of a concert tour which they launched earlier this month at Town Hall in New York. Like that show, each artist performed their own separate unique solo set before coming together at the end of the second act to perform several popular tunes from the Tony-winning musical that helped propel their status as bona fide stage stars. Fans were surely not disappointed.

It's just been announced that Wilson Jermaine Heredia, who famously created the drag queen role of Angel in the 1996 Off Broadway production of RENT before winning a Tony for the same role on Broadway will join LA CAGE AUX FOLLES on Broadway on February 15th.
Heredia will replace Robin de Jesus in the part, and joins the production at the same time as new stars Harvey Fierstein and Jeffrey Tambor.

Tony Award-winning actress, singer, and songwriter Idina Menzel, star of Broadway's Wicked and the original stage production of Rent, will make her New York Philharmonic debut Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. The concert, a benefit for the New York Philharmonic, will be conducted by multi-award-winning conductor/composer Marvin Hamlisch. Ms. Menzel - who appeared in the hit television show Glee - will perform a repertoire of classic pop, musical theater favorites (including hits from Wicked and Rent), as well as selections from her album of original songs, I Stand.

CHESS opened at the Signature Theatre on August 10 and will run through September 26. The cast is lead by Jill Paice (Curtains, The 39 Steps) as Florence Vassy, Euan Morton (Boy George in Taboo, Sondheim on Sondheim) as Anatoly Sergievsky and Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose, Rent) as Freddie Trumper. The rock musical is directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. Written by Mamma Mia! composers Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson with Evita and Lion King lyricist Tim Rice, the 1984 cult musical of Cold War competition in love and chess is being given its first major Washington area production. Chess is being performed in the fabulous intimacy of the 276-seat MAX Theatre.
RENT, written by Jonathan Larson, will be performed at the Hollywood Bowl for three performances only, Friday and Saturday August 6 and 7 at 8:30pm, and Sunday August 8 at 7:30pm.
