A Quirky, Compassionate (Almost) Silent Play Announced At Thalia's Umbrella

Thalia's Umbrella is thrilled to present the Seattle premiere of Bess Wohl's (mostly) silent comedy Small Mouth Sounds at 12th Avenue Arts April 18 to May 11, 2019.

Seven people meet in the seclusion of the woods to begin a silent retreat. In the quiet, they must come to terms with both their darkest fears and silliest foibles. They each leave changed...but not in the ways they expect. Using very few words, Small Mouth Sounds depicts the achingly human need to connect.

This production of Small Mouth Sounds will be directed by Daniel Wilson. Wilson says, "Great comedy is perhaps the most compassionate human adventure. And goodness knows, in today's endlessly loud, angry culture, I think we're all hungry for a little compassion. Small Mouth Sounds finds a completely fresh way to be funny-which makes its compassion ever so much more rewarding."

The cast features David Pichette (Teacher), Ina Chang (Judy), Bridget Connors (Joan), Terry Edward Moore (Jan), Douglas Ridings (Rodney), Adam St. John (Ned) and Sara Dabney Tisdale (Alicia). Wilson is joined on the production team by Johanna Melamed (Sound Design), Kelsey Rogers (Costume and Props Design), Roberta Russell (Set and Light Design), and Jeremiah L. Givers (Stage Manager).

Early Bird Pricing available until March 1st. Group rates available.
