Glasgow International Comedy Festival Q&A: John Aggasild

Tell us a bit about your show.

It's called SPRING/SUMMER 2019 - like when a fashion designer debuts a new runway collection. I use these shows in March to try out new material and see what works best to develop further throughout the year. For that reason it's a free show.

Do you have any top tips for anything else visitors should do while in Glasgow?

Use the subway and public transport - visit the parks and the Southside and East End, not just the city centre and the west end.

Who would you recommend comes to see you at the festival?

Younger people who really like alternative, personal comedy.

And who would you suggest maybe doesn't?

People who have a narrow idea in their heads of what stand comedy is or should be about.

What sets your show apart from others in the programme?

I set up the room last year for SPRING/SUMMER 18 like a catwalk with seats either side of a runway so I could walk up and down and engage more with the audience. I might try that again because it was a fun use of space - and I get a closer view of people's faces to see if they are laughing or not.

>What's next for you after the Glasgow International Comedy Festival?

April Fool's Day. Every comedian's favourite day of the year. I can't wait.
