The Citizens Theatre will host their first 50p ticket sale of 2019 at Tramway, offering bargain hunting fans cut price tickets for The Dark Carnival, a music and theatre spectacle from Vanishing Point, in co-production with the Citizens Theatre, in association with Dundee Rep Ensemble.

From 10am on Saturday 16 January, 100 tickets for The Dark Carnival will be available for 50p. Tickets are available over 10 performances and can only be purchased in person at Tramway.

Transporting audiences into an unexpected vision of the afterlife full of long-lost lovers and half-hearted ghosts, The Dark Carnival will feature sixteen performers and musicians, with live original music from A New International. Through songs, spoken word and visual imagery, they will tell the story of newcomers to the afterlife who discover, much to their surprise, that death is not actually the end.

The 50p ticket sale will begin at 10am but with availability strictly limited, and the bargain ticket offer more popular than ever, customers are advised to join the queue at Tramway early to avoid disappointment. Customers will be able to buy a maximum of two tickets per person which must be paid for in cash.

Over 3,500 50p tickets have been sold since Dominic Hill revived the 50p ticket offer in his first season at the Citizens Theatre in 2012. The offer honours the Citizens Theatre's historic reputation for offering world-class theatre at affordable prices. To this day the Citizens Theatre continues to offer affordable tickets for a wide range of groups to encourage wider participation and engagement with theatre. Initiatives include 2 tickets with a Citizens Theatre Gorbals Card which is available to anyone with a G5 postcode, 2 tickets for the unemployed and Deaf Theatre Club which offers 5 tickets to BSL signed shows for deaf patrons.

As well as at Saturday's sale, tickets for The Dark Carnival are available by calling the Citizens Theatre Box Office on 0141 429 0022 or by visiting citz.co.uk. Tickets from 15 with previews priced at just 12.50 and a range of concessions available.
