Theatre Bay Area, one of the nation's largest service organizations for regional theater, with presenting partners TodayTix, San Francisco Travel Association and San Francisco Chronicle announced the inaugural Bay Area Theatre Week, a 10-day celebration of the prolific and vital theatre community of the Bay Area. With over 40 of the Bay Area's top theatre companies participating, audiences will be invited to purchase tickets to a wide-range of theatrical productions-from Tony Award-winning musicals and plays to regional premieres and the newest works for the American theatre-at three low-cost ticket prices, $15, $25, and $35. Tickets for Bay Area Theatre Week will be available through BayAreaTheatreWeek.com, TheatreBayArea.com, the TodayTix mobile app, and SFTravel.com beginning February 22, 2019 at 10am.

"Bay Area Theatre Week is truly a celebration of one of the largest theatre communities in the country," says Theatre Bay Area Executive Director, Brad Erickson. "The Bay Area theatre scene captures the true consciousness of the region-it is diverse, groundbreaking, welcoming, deeply thoughtful, envelope-pushing, and traditional all at once. No matter who you are, you can find a theatre company in the Bay Area presenting incredible live work that speaks to you and your community. We wanted to create an opportunity to highlight this incredible local industry that not only supports and is home to some of the most important theatremakers in the nation, but a unifying event that invites audiences throughout the Bay Area to explore the organizations located in their backyard and across the Bay. Because of the support, ingenuity, and efforts of our incredible partners, TodayTix and San Francisco Travel Association, I'm thrilled that for 10 days in March and April, audiences of all ages, whether they be new to the art-form or long-time supporters, can attend multiple theatrical performances of all genres and disciplines."

"The Bay Area has one of the most vibrant arts landscapes in the country, from being the birthplace of some of the world's most beloved musicals to the thriving comedy and cabaret scene," says Brian Fenty, TodayTix CEO and Co-Founder. "Theatre Bay Area is such a strong champion of providing essential support and resources to the region's vital theater organizations and has been a wonderful and collaborative partner to TodayTix since we launched in the Bay Area back in 2015. With Bay Area Theatre Week, we are thrilled to grow that partnership with a joint mission to highlight the area's spectacular offerings and bring new and returning audiences together for one epic celebration."

"We are delighted to welcome Bay Area Theatre Week to San Francisco and the region," says Brenda Tucker, director of arts community relations and marketing for San Francisco Travel. "This event makes the excitement of live theatre even more accessible to both residents and visitors from around the world."

"The Chronicle is thrilled to support the launch of Bay Area Theatre Week," says Bill Nagel, Publisher and CEO of The San Francisco Chronicle. "We look forward to this celebration of the arts becoming a staple event for our community."
