At its very heart, WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) is a celebration of the arts: in every form, from every country, for everyone. And what better way to celebrate the arts than a festival? Part of the National Theatre's free series of River Stage takeovers, WOMAD brought live music, workshops and dance from around the world to the heart of London.

The score to Bright Star is a delicious blend of Americana, blue grass and gospel, and it's great. This last Thursday I started my day by whetting my appetite for things to come (I was seeing Bright Star on Broadway that evening before welcoming the cast to Sessions). I spent my morning listening to the cast album. I was immediately taken with it's signature sound and sweeping melodies. Steve and Edie know what they are doing. Bluegrass on Broadway… it works. How? Who cares! It works.

Now on their fifth national tour, The Midtown Men are bringing their magic to audiences everywhere, singing their favorite '60s hits from The Beatles, Motown, The Four Seasons and more. Last night, on “The Arsenio Hall Show,” host Arsenio Hall welcomed comedian and star of “Drop Dead Diva,” Margaret Cho, the NFL Network's Rich Eisen with a special appearance by Keyshawn Johnson, and a musical performance from blues guitarist, Gary Clark Jr.

Steeped in the tradition of authentic bluegrass and folk music, North Carolina's Acoustic Syndicate released their first full-length album in eight years, Rooftop Garden, yesterday. In honor the release, check out the new video for their song 'Memphis Girls', courtesy of The Bluegrass Situation, below! This strangely cheerful tale is about a guy who brings his 'big idea' to the city of Memphis, only to go home with his tail between his legs. Fortunately his friends are there to ease him back to reality.
