The last time that Bertie Carvel tread the Broadway boards, it was as tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull in the 2013 hit, Matilda. This season, he brings another of his critically-acclaimed West End roles to New York as media mogul Rupert Murdoch in Ink. Both roles earned the Brit Tony nominations, the latter for Best Performance from a Featured Actor in a Play.

The final play of the 2018-19 Broadway season took its opening night bow last night at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of INK, written by Olivier Award winner James Graham (Labour of Love, Privacy, Finding Neverland) and directed by two-time Olivier Award winner, Tony and BAFTA Award nominee Almeida Theatre Artistic Director Rupert Goold (King Charles III), has been extended twice and is now playing through Sunday, June 23. The production opens tomorrow, Wednesday April 24, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Rehearsals are underway for MTC's INK, which will begin previews Tuesday, April 2 prior to a Wednesday, April 24 opening night at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Two-time Olivier Award winner Bertie Carvel (Matilda) will reprise his Olivier Award-winning performance as Rupert Murdoch and Olivier Award winner Jonny Lee Miller ('Elementary,' Frankenstein) will play the editor of The Sun, Larry Lamb.

24-year-old Irish girl Fiona O'Malley, 23-year old Adam Wollerton from Yorkshire, 22-year old Rachel Kelly from Glasgow and 25-year old Joseph Alexander are bringing their highly-praised musical production to an off West End venue following a performance at the 900-seater Rose Theatre and sell-out three day run at the IYAF festival in July. The Daily Fail: the Musical will be performed seven times over six days, from the 15th-20th October at Waterloo East Theatre in Central London. Jane Lynch can now add media mogel to her list of accomplishments. While News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch is out of the country, Lynch stepped in as his interim replacement at the D9 tech conference. Performing a routine in only the way the classically cynical Lynch can, she claimed that as interim CEO she would be cancelling the iPad paper 'The Daily' and adding a comics section to the Wall Street Journal. Sarah Palin, she also joked, would be guest-starring on GLEE. On Palin's participation she remarked, 'I'm pretty sure we got Sarah Palin to do a guest spot on Glee. She'll perform an original tune I penned: 'Look at Me, I'm Bats--t Crazy.'
