This spring, The Hypocrites are bringing the award-winning, Off-Broadway musical hit ADDING MACHINE: A Musical back to Chicago where it first premiered. Directed by Geoff Button, with music direction by Matt Deitchman and choreography by Katie Spelman, this heartbreaking musical adaptation of Elmer Rice's play The Adding Machine features music by Joshua Schmidt and book and lyrics by Jason Loewith and Schmidt. ADDING MACHINE: A Musical will play now through May 15, 2016 at The Den Theatre's Heath Main Stage, 1329 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. For the past two seasons, including the 20th Anniversary production in 2012, Profiles revisited Kern's landmark play for the holiday season. Both productions recevied extended runs and played for over three months. First produced as a late-night show by Famous Door Theatre in 1992, Hellcab was originally scheduled for twelve performances. It ended up running for over nine years, becoming one of the longest running shows in Chicago theatre history. Richard Cotovsky played the Driver for nearly 18 months including return engagements logging in well over two hundred performances to make him one of the longest performing actors to play the Driver during its premiere. Hellcab has been performed all over the U.S. and abroad, including Scotland, Israel, Singapore, and Ireland, winning numerous awards, including a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival.
