On this day in 2008, the Menier Chocolate Factory's production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, Sunday in the Park with George opened on Broadway.

ET has shared a first look at ABC's one-hour musical event special ENCORE. The show premieres on SUNDAY, DEC. 10 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST). In ENCORE, executive producer Kristen Bell, who also appears, reunites the cast of a high school musical and asks them to perform it again twenty years later.

Jake Gyllenhaal spoke with CBS Sunday morning about his career including his celebrated run in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. The actor revealed that the cast recording will be released at the end of this month.

From the Tony Award-winning team of James Lapine (Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George) and William Finn (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) comes a musical comedy about one modern family's unexpected route to brighter days. Based on the Academy Award-winning film by Michael Arndt. Chicago Theatre Workshop will be the first company in the US to present the show since its off-Broadway run at Second Stage Theater. 

Everyman Theatre presents the Baltimore/DC Premiere of Los Otros, a timely new reworking of the musical from Tony Award nominees Michael John LaChiusa (music) and Ellen Fitzhugh (book and lyrics).
