Duncan Sheik has a busy year ahead of him! Contributing music to The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, which just opened at the Westside Theatre, he now travels to Poughkeepsie to work on his new musical, Noir, at Vassar's 2015 Powerhouse season. Soon after, rehearsals begin for the first Broadway revival of Spring Awakening, and then he starts preparing for the Broadway transfer of his musical version of American Psycho. Following a sold-out run at Dixon Place, the limited 12- week engagement of the critically-acclaimed new play The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey officially opened on July 27, 2015, at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street). THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, the much talked-about new play written and performed by James Lecesne, will have scenic design by Jo Winiarski, lighting design by Matt Richards, sound design by Christian Frederickson, projection design by Aaron Rhyne, original animation & photography by Matthew Sandager, and costumes by Paul Marlow.

This week some of heater's best gathered together to celebrate the 31st Powerhouse Theater season. From Hedwig and the Angry Inch composer Stephen Trask to Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), the event involved a Meet-n-Greet with theater professionals from around the theater community.

'In this song, the character has recently come back from fighting in Vietnam, and while he was expecting a hero's welcome - he's faced with the reality of the country he's come back to. He wanted more than anything to make his father proud by being courageous back in war, but he's haunted by the idea that maybe he wasn't.'

Brooklyn band Sky-Pony (fronted by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham of Broadway's A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) is known for shows that bridge the gap between rock and theater. Earlier this week, they combined these interests with special show that included a cavalcade of luminaries from the world of Broadway at Joe's Pub. Special guests included Tony nominee Marc Kudisch (Hand to God, 9 to 5), Margo Seibert (Rocky, Tamar of the River), Alli Mauzey (Wicked, Hairspray), Lisa O'Hare (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Catherine Walker (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) and Tony winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening).
