The final play of the 2018-19 Broadway season took its opening night bow last night at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Ink, written by Olivier Award winner James Graham and directed by two-time Olivier Award winner, Tony and BAFTA Award nominee Almeida Theatre Artistic Director Rupert Goold, made its American premiere via Manhattan Theatre Club and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the big night!

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of INK, written by Olivier Award winner James Graham (Labour of Love, Privacy, Finding Neverland) and directed by two-time Olivier Award winner, Tony and BAFTA Award nominee Almeida Theatre Artistic Director Rupert Goold (King Charles III), has been extended twice and is now playing through Sunday, June 23. The production opens tomorrow, Wednesday April 24, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Rehearsals are underway for MTC's INK, which will begin previews Tuesday, April 2 prior to a Wednesday, April 24 opening night at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Two-time Olivier Award winner Bertie Carvel (Matilda) will reprise his Olivier Award-winning performance as Rupert Murdoch and Olivier Award winner Jonny Lee Miller ('Elementary,' Frankenstein) will play the editor of The Sun, Larry Lamb.

David Wilson Barnes (Becky Shaw at Second Stage Theatre and London's Almeida Theatre) plays Charlie Duff, a burnt-out local newscaster who transforms first his community and then himself when he begins praying on-air in the Huntington Theatre Company's new production of Stephen Belber's moving new drama The Power of Duff. Amy Pietz ('The Office,' 'Caroline in the City') plays Duff's ex-wife Lisa, and Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein, Friends with Kids) plays Sue, Charlie's co-anchor, in the production helmed by Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois. Performances begin on October 11 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. The Power of Duff is produced in association with New York Stage and Film and Vassar's Powerhouse Theater. Country music fans awakened to the sad news that Mindy McCready was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The singer had been struggling in recent years over a variety of issues including a custody battle for her two young children. On this morning's Today show on NBC, the father of one of McCready's two children spoke about the sad news. Watch his appearance below.

Opening Reagle Players' 42nd consecutive season on June 18th was the classic Into the Woods starring Broadway powerhouse Rachel York. York recently won the 2009 Irne Award for Best Musical Actress for her critically praised turn as the title character in Reagle's Hello, Dolly! That production was part of the group's 'Salute to Jerry Herman' season last summer. York now returns in mid June to portray The Witch in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's original fairy tale Into the Woods.
