Happy Birthday Carol Channing! She is the recipient of three Tony Awards (including one for lifetime achievement), a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. Channing is best remembered for originating, on Broadway, the musical-comedy roles of bombshell Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and matchmaking widow Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly! She also appeared in two New York revivals of Hello, Dolly!, and toured with it extensively throughout the United States. Channing also appeared in a number of movies, The First Traveling Sales Lady (1956) with Ginger Rogers, the cult film Skidoo and Thoroughly Modern Millie, opposite Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore.

Nothing Like a Dame: Conversations with the Great Women of Musical Theater, a new book by Eddie Shapiro featuring interviews with 20 female musical theatre stars, launched earlier this week at the headquarters of Oxford University Press at 198 Madison Avenue. Attendees got to meet some of the dames of Dames including Laura Benanti, Judy Kaye, Debra Monk, Donna McKechnie, Donna Murphy, Lillias White and Karen Ziemba. BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was there to chat with the ladies about their stories and you can check out what they had to say below!

Many know Carol Channing for her work on the Broadway stage, but she was also the first-ever solo artist to perform during a Super Bowl Halftime Show. In the video, Channing surprises unsuspecting Bingo players with a spontaneous Halftime performance, as part of Pepsi's 'Get Hyped for Halftime' campaign. Among the Bingo players was Rory O'Conner, who actually attended Super Bowl IV in 1970 when Channing originally performed. Check it out below!

Happy Birthday Andrea McArdle! As 'Annie,' McArdle became the youngest performer ever to be nominated for a Tony Award as Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Also on Broadway, she starred in the Jerry Herman musical Jerry's Girls alongside Carol Channing and Leslie Uggams; she portrayed the sassy Smoking Car, Ashley, in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express; and starred as Margy Frake in State Fair; as Fantine in Les Miserables and, most recently as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Hilty is best known for her for role on Smash and her portrayal of Lorelei Lee, the diamond-loving blonde made famous by Carol Channing, in the New York City Center Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Doralee Rhodes in Broadway's 9 to 5: The Musical (earning nominations for Lead Actress in a Musical from the Drama Desk Awards, among others); and more. She made her Broadway debut as Glinda in Wicked, and went on to perform the role in a national tour and in Los Angeles. She just released her first solo album, titled 'It Happens All the Time.'
