The answer to last year's question of whether the digital arts venture STAGE RAW could bring back its awards ceremony celebrating the best of LA's up-to-99-seat theaters, the answer is YES. STAGE RAW is pleased to announce the SECOND ANNUAL STAGE RAW LOS ANGELES THEATER AWARDS, championing the best work of 2015 in L.A.'s still-embattled theaters of up to 99-seats.
John Waters, Rita Mae Brown to Be Honored at the 27th Annual Lambda Literary Awards

Lambda Literary is pleased to announce that John Waters will receive Lambda's Trustee Award for Excellence in Literature an Rita Mae Brown will receive the Pioneer Award at the 27th Annual Lambda Literary Awards ('Lammys'). Waters and Brown will be honored along with the winning authors of 24 separate LGBT literary categories as determined by over 90 judges. The Lammys bring together over 450 attendees, sponsors and celebrities to celebrate excellence in LGBT literature, making it the most glamorous and prestigious LGBT literary event in the world. The awards will be hosted for the fourth year in a row by comedienne Kate Clinton on Monday, June 1st in New York City at The Great Hall at Cooper Union (7 East 7th St @ 3rd Ave, New York City) with a pre-ceremony reception presented by Penguin Random House. A VIP After-Party presented by Scholastic will immediately follow the ceremony.

An exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) arrives at Phoenix Art Museum and will feature rare paintings by William H. Johnson, from the collection of the James E. Lewis Museum at Morgan State University. An essential figure in modern American art, William H. Johnson (1901-1970) was a virtuoso skilled in various media and techniques, and produced thousands of works over a career that spanned decades, continents, and genres.

Art Signs, the Smithsonian American Art Museum's monthly program, features 30-minute gallery talks presented by deaf gallery guides in American Sign Language (ASL). ASL interpreters voice information and observations allowing hearing and deaf audiences to discover art together under the leadership of a deaf volunteer guide.

ALMA Award nominee, Gabriel Iglesias, will look to end the weekend at Comix on a good note, as he visits the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. Tickets are currently available for presale through Comix and Ticketmaster and regular tickets are set to go on sale tomorrow, Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. Fans can purchase tickets in advance for $40, $50 and $60. Theatre of NOTE continues the celebration of its 30th anniversary with an homage to its roots of producing orginal one act plays: Pity of Things, an evening of 5 one act plays written by, Jason Grote (Kawaisoo), Phinneas Kiyomura (The Little Darling), Bill Robens (Breaking), Tommy Smith (PTSD) and Delondra Williams (Desert Aria). The plays will be directed by Sabrina Lloyd (Kawaisoo), Phinneas Kiyomura (The Little Darling), Jaime Robledo, Sabina Ptasznik, Christopher William Johnson (Desert Aria). Pity of Things will preview on Thursday, July 14 at 8pm and will open on Friday, July 15th at 8pm and run through Saturday, August 7th at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (just North of Sunset) in Hollywood.
