Zoetic Stage and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County present the world premiere of #GRACED by Vanessa Garcia, in collaboration with Abre Camino Collective. #GRACED runs from May 4-21, 2023 and is part of the Arsht Center's Theater Up Close series presented by PNC Bank.

The premiere of Richard Blanco and Vanessa Garcia’s SWEET GOATS and BLUBERRY SEÑORITAS at Portland Stage heralds the magical debut of a haunting new dramatic voice.  Poet Blanco and his collaborator Garcia have created a delicate, sad-sweet memory play, inhabited by six memorable and widely disparate characters, whose shards of reminiscence come together in the cold winter landscape of a small Maine town.

Portland Stage Company’s first commissioned play, Sweet Goats and Blueberry Señoritas, is a moving and layered story of home, family, and forgiveness. Told with humor and emotion, this play by Richard Blanco and Vanessa Garcia explores the universal themes of love, loss, and community through the rich motifs of food, baking, and the symbols that keep us connected throughout time.

#Graced, written by Vanessa Garcia and directed by Sarah Hughes and Victoria Collado will be presented by Zoetic Stage and Adrienne Arsht Center in collaboration with Abre Camino Collective.

Adriana Gaviria will join Jacob G. Padrón as co-Artistic Director of The Sol Project. Gaviria will assume the new role beginning December 12, 2022. 

Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure by Steven Dietz, adapted from the original 1899 play by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and William Gillette, opens at Portland Stage Friday, October 28 at 7:30 pm.

WP THEATER has announced the fifteen artists selected for the 2022-2024 WP Lab. The two-year residency begins now, and culminates with the biennial WP Pipeline Festival in 2024.

The Sol Project, the national theater initiative dedicated to amplifying Latiné voices and building a body of work for the new American theater, announced full details for the fifth annual SolFest: A Latiné Theatre Festival, produced in partnership with (Pregones/PRTT). The four-day program runs August 7-10 with both online and in-person events.

Playwrights Horizons will present the second season of Soundstage, its scripted fiction podcast. With plays written specifically for the audio format, not translated or recorded live from the stage, Soundstage has established itself as a singular, adventurous presence in both the podcasting and theater worlds. The world premiere of Rubengology: The Making of an American Legend, a collaboration between GableStage, the longstanding theatre company located in Coral Gables' historic Biltmore Hotel and Abre Camino Collective, runs from July 14 – 31.

GableStage, the Coral Gables based theatre company that has made its home in the Biltmore Hotel for over 24 years, announced its 2022-23 season. Five new productions, which illuminate the company’s mission of “confronting today’s issues and ideas” will account for 130 performances from October - July. This season’s Theater Up Close series returns with five extraordinary productions, including two world premieres by Miami playwrights Michael McKeever and Vanessa Garcia, one Florida premiere and the regional premiere of Heidi Schreck’s Pulitzer and Tony Award nominated hit Broadway play What the Constitution Means to Me.
