TheaterWorks Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero announced today the cast and creative team for FULLY COMMITTED. Audience favorite Jamison Stern, (GEORGIA MCBRIDE's Miss Tracy Mills) returns as Sam an out of work actor manning the reservation line in New York's hottest restaurant. Bill Fennelly, returns home to Hartford to make his directorial debut at TheaterWorks. FULLY COMMITTED runs August 1 through September 1 and is the 5th and final show of the 20182019 Season. FULLY COMMITTED will be performed at the Wadsworth Atheneum

Due to overwhelming demand, Garden Theatre has added an additional performance of The Legend of Georgia McBride on Sunday, January 27 at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the added showtime are available through the Box Office, or online at gardentheatre.org.

Reminiscent of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and KINKY BOOTS, but with a spirit and humor all its own, THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE is a drag show with a beautiful message of finding one's identity and embracing those you love as they discover their identity. What it doesn't resemble so much is playwright Matthew Lopez's other work seen recently on #TCTheater stages, the intense Civil War drama THE WHIPPING MAN, a beautiful and heart-breaking play done by Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company last year. Which just goes to show the range of the playwright, although I think it's safe to say that GEORGIA MCBRIDE is the more personal work. Similar to the protagonist Casey, he found himself in a drag club in Florida, although the details of the story are different. GEORGIA MCBRIDE is a really fun show, and you also may learn a bit about drag performance, and rethink some stereotypes about the real people behind all the glitz and glamour of the show.

Greater Boston Stage Company in Stoneham presents the Boston premiere of THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE, a play with music about a not-so-great Elvis impersonator who finds success with a new calling involving lipstick, sequins, high heels, and specially-padded undergarments. If you subscribe to the philosophy that life is what happens when you're busy making other plans, then playwright Matthew Lopez makes a strong case for it.

Since ancient times, men have been dressing up as women to perform in a variety of settings. From ancient Japanese theater to Shakespeare's classics, a man in drag was something one just came to expect from the theatre. But in modern times, dressing in drag has taken on a much different meaning. For those who don a wig and strap on a fabulous pair of heels, drag is an escape from reality, a visceral and visual protest performed with a shiny, and often irreverent veneer. But, at its core, drag is about creating an outlet to overcome personal fears, anxieties, and shortcomings, in a larger than life way. These themes, and more, are on display in TheaterWorks newest production of Matthew Lopez' THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE.  

TheaterWorks (Rob Ruggiero, Director/Producing Artistic Director) announced today that THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE by Matthew Lopez will run March 16 through April 22, 2018. THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE is the 3rd show of TheaterWorks 32nd Season.

According to Variety, Jim Parsons has signed on to star and co-produce a film adaptation of Matthew Lopez's 2015 play, The Legend of Georgia McBride. Parsons will play veteran drag queen Tracey Mills- played off Broadway by Matt McGrath.

Uptown Players puts Kyle Igneczi back in heels for the title role of Georgia McBride in Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride, running December 1 17, 2017 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.
