The hilarious SHEAR MADNESS, Charlotte's all time longest running theatrical hit, returns to the Queen City for another run of side-splitting laughs starting April 9 at the Stage Door Theater. This worldwide hit played 210 performances in the Booth Playhouse in 2006 during its inaugural engagement in Charlotte.

A blockbuster lineup of Broadway?s most popular and critically acclaimed productions will visit the Queen City in 2009/10 as part of the N.C. Blumenthal Performing Arts Center?s Broadway Lights Series. The Center?s 2009/10 series includes four Tony Award winners for Broadway?s Best Musical, as well as a stunning new show direct from Israel. Many of the shows coming to Charlotte are among the most popular hits on Broadway today.

Blumenthal PAC Offers Free Service Fees 3/13- 3/16

Tickets for much of Charlotte's best performing arts entertainment will be service fee FREE March 13-16. The CarolinaTix ticketing system operated by the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center will waive service fees on all events on sale on the system during this four-day period. The fee free weekend begins at 10 AM on Friday (March 13) and ends at midnight on Monday (March 16).

Local HS & College Students Get A Chance To See FROST/NIXON

The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is partnering with local high schools and colleges this winter to give students a unique experience tied to the Broadway tour of FROST/NIXON, coming to the Belk Theater Feb. 10 - 15. Students are watching video excerpts of the famed interviews of President Richard M. Nixon, conducted by British talk-show host David Frost in 1977, and using a study guide that explores the Nixon administration, the Watergate investigation, and profiles of the major players involved in this monumental series of interviews. After studying the historical events and video footage that inspired Peter Morgan's award-winning play and Oscar-nominated film, every student will be treated to a free ticket to see the hit play FROST/NIXON, courtesy of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center will host a live TV broadcast of President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration, including the swearing in ceremony and related festivities, on Tues, Jan. 20. The event will take place in the McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square (345 N. College St.) and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are not required. Pizza and beverages will be available for purchase
