Dracula, a novel written by Bram Stoker and published in 1897, became Stoker’s most definitive work. Told in an epistolary style through letters, journal entries, and newspaper articles, Stoker’s novel is never told through the eyes of a single protagonist. Our tale begins with a businessman by the name of Jonathan Harker traveling to the Transylvanian Castle of one Count Dracula, in order to procure a deed. Having merely escaped the castle with his life, after finding out the Count is a Vampire, Harker makes his way home to England, where the Count has now taken up residence with plans to plague the small seaside town of Whitby.

Jobsite Theater, resident theater company at the Straz Center in downtown Tampa and recipient of the 2022 Best of the Bay Award for Best Professional Theater Company, will continue their 24th season with Steven Dietz’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s DRACULA. The show runs Oct. 21 - Nov. 23 in the Straz Center’s Jaeb Theater. Specially-priced preview performances will be held Oct 19-20.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the newest addition to the artistic team: Directing Fellow Mack Brown. Brown is the fifth Roundabout Directing Fellow. This season they will assist on multiple Roundabout productions, and work with the theatre's artistic team as a script reader and on developing two projects of their choosing.

Actors Collaborative Toledo and The Village Players Theatre will collaborate to present a duo of area premieres in July on The Village Players stage. Ben Hur by Patrick Barlow will be performed on July 22-24 and Rocket Man by Steven Dietz will be performed on July 29-31.

Austin Playhouse announces that after 60+ years of producing theatre in Austin and beyond, Founder and Co-Producing Artistic Director Don Toner will step down from his role as Co-Producing Artistic Director. Each date of the series will feature the reading of a play by Theatre 40's actors, followed by a Q&A period. The theme of this session is Strange Plays for Strange Days.. The series is moderated by Melanie MacQueen and John Leslie. Each reading will be directed by either Ms. MacQueen or Mr.Leslie.

Open Book will open their season with This Random World: The Myth of Serendipity running Sept 10 – Oct 10, 2021.

The season will include the world premiere of The Rise and Fall of Holly Fudge by Trista Baldwin, a new concert of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway classics, the East Coast premiere of Best Summer Ever, and two productions that were postponed due to the pandemic.
