by Julie Musbach
- Jun 3, 2017
The past is an inviting but dangerous place. When we are haunted by the ghosts of our past, we attribute their torment to the deeds they've left undone. Benevolent or otherwise, these spirits employ the living to serve in their endeavor for rest... or unrest.

BWW Review: THE WOMAN IN BLACK, Exeter Northcott Theatre, 15 November 2016
by Nicky Sweetland
- Nov 17, 2016
Stephen Mallatratt's ghoulish adaptation of Susan Hill's infamous ghost story has been frightening London audiences for over twenty-five years and embarked on a UK tour in September. Whilst on its travels the classic play has taken up residence for a spell of haunting at Exeter's Northcott Theatre this week, allowing Devon audiences the opportunity to see the hit show within their locale. Unlike some of the West End's other long running stage offerings, it's easy to see why The Woman in Black has enjoyed such longevity, as the timeless tale remains an utterly thrilling theatrical white-knuckle ride.

BWW Review: The Wonder of Fright Rises with Cape Rep's THE WOMAN IN BLACK
by Kristen Morale
- Sep 30, 2016
Many of you may be familiar with The Woman in Black due to it being the second longest running play in London's West End (twenty-nine years strong), or perhaps you were pretty spooked by the 2012 film starring Daniel Radcliffe. However you were lured to see this production, Susan Hill's and Stephen Mallatratt's simple masterpiece of a true English horror story, one without gore or unnecessary violence, really makes for quite an intriguing production. Directed by Damian Baldet, who appeared in last season's Outside Mullingar, Cape Rep's The Woman in Black tests our mental reflexes as the battle between belief and disbelief ensues - as the senses are both heightened and chilled by the story surrounding this mysterious woman who haunts and kills, and who is scaring more than just the superstitious townspeople.
