BWW Review: Charming and Familiar ARNIE LOUIS AND BOB
by Andria Tieman
- Apr 12, 2016
Trinity Rep's world premiere of Katie Pearl's ARNIE LOUIS AND BOB is a charming take on getting older, family and whether or not men ever really grow out of being a lost boy. By shattering the fourth wall and actually having the author of the play become one of the characters, the play manages to comment upon itself and inject laugh upon laugh into an increasingly absurd situation that's set in what looks like Grandma's house. Exceptional performances all around and unexpected characters and twist come together to create a lovely story with plenty of heart and humor.

Trinity Rep continues Season 52 Rebels, Renegades and Pioneers with Charise Castro Smith's dark comedy, The Hunchback of Seville , directed by Taibi Magar. At the turn of the 16th century, Christopher Columbus has just returned from the new world with gold in his pockets and blood on his hands. Maxima Terrible Segunda, the brilliant adopted sister of dying HRH Queen Isabella, is living out her life locked away in a tower... until it is decided that the future of the country is in her nerdy, reclusive hands. In a bitingly funny and madcap take on Spanish history and colonialism, Maxima weaves her way through mountains of prejudice, politics, religion and the horrors of history.

BWW Review: Merry CHRISTMAS CAROL Rings in the Season at Trinity Rep
by Veronica Bruscini
- Nov 18, 2015
The 2015 CHRISTMAS CAROL, directed by Curt Columbus, is a solid production and quite enjoyable, though small elements keep it from being a fully immersive theatrical experience. While well done overall, the emotional punch of past Trinity CAROLS is lacking in this year's staging.
