The Royal Society of Literature has unveiled plans for Dalloway Day 2021. Every year on ‘a Wednesday in mid-June’, the society celebrates the work and legacy of Virginia Woolf. On Wednesday 16 June, their second virtual Dalloway Day will feature online panel discussions, a writing workshop, a podcast, and self-guided walking tours of Bloomsbury.

According to the annual school play survey conducted by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), The Addams Family, Clue, and Check Please received top billing for the most produced musical, full-length play, and short play, respectively, during the 2019-20 school year, which was cut short by the closures required by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Long Beach Playhouse opens its 2019 - 2020 season with The Haunting of Hill House. The play is adapted by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel written by Shirley Jackson in 1959. The story focuses on Dr. Montague (a paranormal researcher), an isolated and creepy old house with a bad reputation, a collection of his guests chosen for their susceptibility to the supernatural, a quirky relative of the mansion's owner and the strangely disquieting house staff. As the foreboding and creepiness grows we must ask the question, 'What can be done when the malevolent presence isn't in the house but is the house?'

Dr. Montague invites his small team of volunteers to join his paranormal investigation of an unwelcoming mansion with a history of secrets and tragedies. As each guest is affected by the house's psychological manipulations, their minds, souls, and very lives become endangered.

In the 3 and half years they have been in operation, Some Theatre Company hasn't been afraid to choose the obscure, the angsty and the downright bloody! This season will be no exception. Producing 21 shows in 3 years, 20192020 has been designed around books and movies, (with the exception of Next to Normal which had to move dates and pushed it into this season rather than the tail end of 1819)
