The 27th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards ceremony will take place tonight, January 17, 2017, at the Ahmanson Theatre at The Music Center.

Nominees for the 27th Annual LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards were announced today.

Three finalists have been selected for Center Theatre Group's 2017 Richard E. Sherwood Award: Jenny Foldenauer, Pablo Santiago and Keith Skretch. Center Theatre Group recognizes and celebrates this year's finalists for their exceptional contributions to the Los Angeles theatre landscape and their work as innovative and adventurous artists.

An absurdist mash-up of the lives of great Ashcan artist Edward Hopper and the infamous gossip columnist Hedda Hopper, HOPPER'S WIFE--by composer Stewart Wallace and librettist Michael Korie--had its belated New York premiere last weekend by New York City Opera, in a clever production by Andreas Mitisek.

Written and directed by Nancy Keystone in collaboration with the company, the cast of Ameryka will feature Curt Bonnem, Russell Edge, Ray Ford, Lorne Green, Drew Stafford Harper, Danielle K. Jones, Christopher Salazar, Nick Santoro, and Valerie Spencer.

Award-winning artists' collective Rogue Artists Ensemblepresents its most ambitious project to date in association with Bootleg Theater: a modern, mature and delightfully macabre adaptation of Carlo Collodi's 'The Adventures of Pinocchio.' Theworld premiere of Wood Boy Dog Fish opens at the Bootleg on November 13, with performances continuing through December 12. Low-priced previews begin November 6. The nominations were revealed by past Ovation Award recipients Gigi Bermingham, Brighid Fleming, Parmer Fuller, Jennifer Haley, Brian Kite, Glynn Turman, and John Zalewski, along with LA STAGE Alliance Chief Executive Officer Terence McFarland.

Two years ago, with funding from The James Irvine Foundation and in partnership with Latino Health Access, South Coast Repertory launched a play-development project in Santa Ana called Dialogue/Dialogos. The project captured the stories and memories of nearly 1,000 of the city's Latino residents, which created the core of a new bilingual play, The Long Road Today/El Largo Camino de Hoy,written by Jose Cruz Gonzalez.
