Throughout the year the Edinburgh International Book Festival brings authors, artists, and audiences together to inspire each other, share stories, and bring books to life via its longstanding Communities Programme. This August a selection of events, designed both for, and by those taking part in the programme, will unfold against the backdrop of the Book Festival, as well as at other locations across the country, both live in-person and online.
Tobacco Factory Theatres Gifted 999-Year Lease on 20th Birthday

In an historic moment for Bristol charity Tobacco Factory Theatres, George Ferguson, who regenerated the iconic Tobacco Factory building in South Bristol has granted a 999-year lease of the whole first floor to the Tobacco Factory Arts Trust.

“Am I just like you?” Alison Bechdel questions, looking back on her father after his death in Theatre Raleigh’s latest show, FUN HOME. The musical has music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. It’s based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel and Bechdel herself is the main character of the piece.
