What happens when a choreographer goes off the beaten path? This past Friday's New Combinations program at The New York City Ballet staged unique works in the repertory of four icons of the field: Wheeldon, Peck, Robbins, and Ratmansky. The four choreographers taken together offer ballets that we can view as academic curiosities, forgettable B-Sides, or explosive new dance visions.
Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté To Make New York City Ballet Debut

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced that Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté will make his debut with New York City Ballet (NYCB) as a Guest Artist in Swan Lake on Friday, February 14. Mr. Côté will dance the role of Prince Siegfried, partnering with NYCB Principal Dancer Sara Mearns as Odette/Odile. Mr. Côté replaces NYCB Principal Dancer Tyler Angle, who is unable to perform due to injury. Ms. Mearns and Mr. Côté will also dance the roles on Sunday, February 16 at 2:00 pm.
Tenor Piero Pretti And NYCB Principal Dancer Sara Mearns Join The Metropolitan Opera's LA TRAVIATA

The Metropolitan Opera today announces two cast changes for its forthcoming production of Verdi's La Traviata, opening January 10, 2020. Piero Pretti sings the role of Alfredo Germont at the performances on February 26, 29, March 5, 9, 13, and 19, 2020, replacing Vittorio Grigolo. Additionally, New York City Ballet principal dancer Sara Mearns joins the cast as the female solo dancer for the performances on January 10, 14, 18, 23, 26, February 3, March 5, 9, and 13, 2020.
