Cast Announced For WET's FEATHERS AND TEETH By Charise Castro Smith

Washington Ensemble Theatre has announced the cast for the Seattle premiere of Feathers and Teeth, the twisted horror comedy by Charise Castro Smith that grapples with the power of grief and the dangers of the other side. WET members Rachel Guyer-Mafune (WET: Teh Internet Is Serious Business, ACT: The Wolves, Book-It: Howl's Moving Castle) and Samie Spring Detzer (WET: Teh Internet Is Serious Business, Revolt. She said. Revolt again.) return to the WET stage to star as the creepy cool daughter/stepmother duo, Chris and Carol. Brandon J. Simmons (WET: Sextet, The Seagull Project: The Cherry Orchard, The Three Sisters) joins the cast as Arthur and James Schilling (ArtsWest: Peter and the Starcatcher, The Horse in Motion: The Great Noise) makes his WET debut as Hugo. WET's Associate Artistic Director Bobbin Ramsey directs. This is the second play by Castro Smith to be produced by WET; the world premiere of The Hunchback of Seville was the company's final play produced at The Little Theater on 19th Avenue East before moving to its current home, 12th Avenue Arts

Washington Ensemble Theatre has announced the cast of the North American Premiere of B, the sharp and surrealist political thriller by Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderon, which is now in rehearsals. B, which is the second of three mainstage productions in WET's 15th Anniversary Season, features an ensemble cast of four incredible Seattle actors: WET member Sophie Franco (Intiman Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company) as Alejandra, Craig Peterson (Seattle Shakespeare Company, Pony World) as Jose Miguel, Klarissa Marie Robles (Seattle Repertory Theatre, eSe Teatro) as Marcela, and Gregory Award winner Shermona Mitchell (Sound Theatre Company, ACT) as Carmen. Jay O'Leary, who is known for her work as a director at ArtsWest (Skeleton Crew) and Annex Theatre, makes her WET debut to direct.

Washington Ensemble Theatre has announced its 2018/19 Season, a dynamic lineup of three plays that celebrates its 15th anniversary as a producing theatre company in Seattle. The season, which is themed 'More, More, More!' in honor of the company's continued growth and consistent artistic boundary-pushing, includes the fantastical dark comedy Everything You Touch by Sheila Callaghan, political thriller B by Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderon, and the twisted horror-comedy Feathers and Teeth by Charise Castro Smith. In addition to these three mainstage productions, WET is pleased to announce a new addition to its programming, GUSH, a series that will bring a piece of contemporary theatrical work from outside Seattle to be performed on its stage each season. The first piece to be presented as part of GUSH is SINGLET, Erin Markey's tenacious look at earned intimacy and how rivalry, affection, and power intersect. Washington Ensemble Theatre has announced full casting for the Seattle premiere of The Nether, Jennifer Haley's award-winning play that asks: What responsibility do humans have for one another as we dive deeper and deeper into a technology-centered world? Featuring a stellar cast, including Pilar O'Connell as Morris and James Weidman as Sims/Papa, The Nether is part crime drama, part haunting sci-fi thriller about a futuristic and disturbing virtual wonderland that provides sensory immersion devoid of consequence for its users. Dear Readers, it's been quite a year and, hopefully, we've come through it unscathed. God knows we've needed some shows to help us escape and others to make us think. But through it all we've had several shows that have proven to shine as some of the best of the year. Out of all the shows I was fortunate enough to see this year, I've selected a few that stood out. Here are those stand outs, a few honorable mentions and a few special mentions about which I just couldn't help myself but to mention in their own special way.
