The TexARTS Professional Series presents The Unexpected Guest, an Agatha Christie thriller. The Unexpected Guest plays October 19 - October 28, 2018 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre in Lakeway.

BroadwayWorld is sad to report that legendary playwright Neil Simon has died at 91. 

All things considered, ALL SHOOK UP does possess a certain amount of appeal largely in part to the talent of the cast and musicians and the timeless music of Elvis Presley. The visually impressive spectacle created by the brilliant scenic artists and designers is also something the whole family will appreciate.  While the show isn't without its stumbling blocks, Zilker Theatre Productions should be commended for providing free, accessible theatre for sixty years. This incredible accomplishment is a gift to the Austin community and is sure to continue delighting families for many years to come.

Who hasn't been to one of the Broadway musical gems that play out in the open air amphitheatre during these blistering hot Austin summers? A gift to the community, the Zilker Summer Musical has been part of Austin for sixty years now. Always free to the public, this year's offering is ALL SHOOK UP, a jukebox musical from 2004 setting Elvis Presley's music to a book by Joe DiPietro. The story is based on William Shakespeare's 1602 play Twelfth Night. Since 1959, audiences have placed their blankets and lawn chairs under the stars at the Beverly S. Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theater to be treated to such Broadway hits as Hairspray, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Oklahoma, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and L'il Abner to name just a few. Shows that, in many cases, no other theatre in town would produce. BroadwayWorld recently had the opportunity to sit down with J. Robert Moore, the Artistic Director of Zilker Theatre Productions to talk about the Zilker musical as well as the organization.

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts will present a special one-night-only performance of Spectrum Dance Theater's A Rap on Race on Saturday, January 13 at 7:30pm in the Ordway Music Theater.

The 2017 Chita Rivera Awards, will be presented on September 11, 2017, directed by four-time Tony Award nominee Randy Skinner, hosted by Two-time Tony and two-time Emmy Award winner Bebe Neuwirth and produced by American Dance Machine for the 21st Century (ADM21) and its Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Nikki Feirt Atkins and Patricia Watt, announced additional performances today.

Who doesn't know THE WIZARD OF OZ? And even if by some strange coincidence the multiple books of L. Frank Baum have managed to escape you, the classic MGM film (on which this production is based) has been a television staple and family viewing tradition for decades.

In conjunction with its upcoming world premiere production (IM)PULSE, a response to the Orlando Pulse Nightclub tragedy and the ongoing aggression towards LBGTQ people, Spectrum Dance Theater, Crosscut, and the Seattle Public Library announce a free public panel discussion titled 'LGBTQ Hate Crimes,' hosted at Seattle Public Library on June 12.   (IM)PULSE is a two-part dance theater work that explores acts of violence perpetrated against the LGBTQ community in American society and how the minds of those attacked often respond in unexpected ways.This panel discussion aims to evoke conversation on the subject matter highlighting the voices of its panelists:

Spectrum Dance Theater closes out its progressive 2017 Season with a highly anticipated World Premiere titled (IM)PULSE, a two-part dance theater work that explores acts of violence perpetrated against the LGBTQ community in American society and how the minds of those attacked often respond in unexpected ways.

Back by popular demand, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will present its hit, Richard O'Brien's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, October 13 through November 5 at Lyric's Plaza Theatre.  This triennial production will feature a cast of local favorites, including Matthew Alvin Brown as Riff Raff, Lexi Windsor as Columbia, and Vince Leseney as Eddie/Dr. Scott. Olive Films, a boutique theatrical and home entertainment distribution label dedicated to bringing independent, foreign, and classic films to DVD and Blu-ray, has just announced that August 16th will be the Blu-ray debut of Liza Minnelli's Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon (1970).

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre announces Green Afternoon IV, a performance and cocktail reception at the home of architects Marcia Previti and Peter Gumpel in East Hampton, NY today, July 16, 2016. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and several outdoor sitting rooms featuring performance installations, with performers dancing in tree houses, on outdoor sculptures, in and around the swimming pool, in the woods, and more. A more formal presentation of her newest work REFUGE, will begin at 5:50pm and will be followed by a reception. Green Afternoon IV akes place at 230 Old Stone Hwy, East Hampton, NY 11937. BUYER AND CELLAR, by Jonathan Tolins, is a deliciously dishy piece of theatre that came to life because of Barbra Streisand's book My Passion for Design. The play, a winner of the 2014-2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show, tells you right from the start that the only thing that is the truth about what you will be seeing is that Streisand really does have an underground mall where her possessions and costumes are all displayed… and she is the sole customer. Alex (J. Robert Moore) is a struggling Hollywood actor who takes the oddest of odd jobs: working in the underground mall at Streisand's Malibu home. He is alone there, trapped between the sounds of the frozen yogurt machine and the popcorn machine, until he has a surprise visit from the Diva herself. They begin to play and bond in the basement; but as their bond deepens, Alex begins to wonder if their budding relationship will ever make it out of that basement. The show is hilariously funny, and a touching examination of the isolation and loneliness of fame.
