BWW Review: ALADDIN National Tour at Durham Performing Arts Center
by Jeffrey Kare
- Oct 4, 2019
Based on Disney's 1992 Academy Award-winning animated film musical of the same name as well as the Arabic folktale from the One Thousand and One Nights, Aladdin follows an Arabian street urchin who steals food in order to support himself. Meanwhile, Princess Jasmine is feeling hemmed in by her father's desire to find her a royal groom. To win over both Jasmine and the Sultan, Aladdin teams up with a genie from a magic lamp he found to disguise himself as a wealthy prince. Yet, the Sultan's Grand Vizier, Jafar, is plotting to take over the throne.

BWW Review: THE “GENIE-US” OF ALADDIN at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center
by Vickie Evans
- Sep 14, 2019
With the iconic song 'A Whole New World', Aladdin certainly delivered 'the magic' of Disney that took the audience on a mind-blowing journey of 'toe tappin' dance performances and tickled our imagination to believe that we too could embark on a fairy-tale infused 'magic carpet ride'.
BWW Review: ALADDIN Flies Into the Kennedy Center
by Jennifer Perry
- Jul 21, 2019
Some questionable casting choices and a book by Chad Beguelin that's filled with a little too many eyeroll worthy anachronistic jokes, aside, the touring production has a few elements that make a trip to the Kennedy Center worth it.

by Audrey Morabito

ALADDIN is a vibrant kaleidoscope of extravagant costumes, choreography, and vocal performances. An entertaining musical comedy jam-packed with a cast of over 30 members, there is always something to marvel at throughout the show for children and adults alike. It's glitz, dynamic, and sure to entertain. Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw with orchestrations by Danny Troob, this show packs an impressive punch when it comes to presentational musical numbers.

BWW Review: ALADDIN Brings a Whole New World to Broadway Sacramento
by Courtney Symes
- May 19, 2019
According to Genie, 'Agrabah has more glitz and glamour than any other fictional city in the world.' He's not lying. Aladdin is a veritable dreamscape of color, light, and shimmering costumes. The animated movie has been brought to life on the stage by six-time Tony-winning lighting designer Natasha Katz and two-time Tony-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes. Familiar songs from Tony and Grammy-award winners Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin feed the nostalgia from the highest grossing film of 1992 while adding new material to complement the transition to a live audience.

BWW Interview: Jay Paranada is Evil Sidekick Iago in Disney's ALADDIN
by Heidi Scheuermann
- Oct 4, 2018
I remember the first time I saw Disney's Aladdin in the movie theatre as a kid. I was only 4 years old, and I was both mystified, entertained, in love with the music, and terrified. So much wrapped up into one movie! A street rat who at heart is a really good guy, but just a little lost and trying to find his place in the world. A princess who teaches us that all the money and comforts in the world don't necessarily bring you joy and that we should always stand up for ourselves. A Genie who grants wishes and ultimately earns his freedom. An evil sorcerer and his trusted sidekick who want nothing more than to rule the world and destroy anyone in their path. But also, there's amazing music and lots of dancing. How could you NOT love this story?!

BWW Review: ALADDIN Converts the Pantages into A Whole New World
by Don Grigware
- Jan 15, 2018
If Aladdin is not really a Prince, how can he capture the Princess's heart? Well, he can suspend and float a magic carpet in mid-air and take her for a ride on it twice each evening - and that's a pretty tall order for a commoner - through March 31 at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Based on the 1992 Disney animated film, Aladdin the Musical features a street urchin Aladdin (Adam Jacobs) in the fabricated Mideastern city of Agrabah, who hangs out with his buddies Babkak, Omar and Kassim (Zach Bencal, Philippe Arroyo, Mike Longo, respectively) and wastes his time in a life of crime by robbing from the rich in the marketplace, but ... ultima
