Main Street Theater (MST) announces its 43rd Season which includes eight productions on the MainStage and seven at its Theater for Youth for 2018-2019.

Main Street Theater continues its 42nd Season with Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus - and it's played by all women.  Men on Boats tells the story of Major John Wesley Powell's actual expedition of the Grand Canyon in 1869.  The play depicts the amazing journey of these 10 explorers with all its humor and wonder and danger and excitement.  It's an extraordinary adventure.

Main Street Theater (MST) presents the beloved modern classic Holes by Louis Sachar (who resides in Austin). Children and adults alike love the book Holes, the now-iconic movie of Holes, and the play. Main Street Theater (MST) continues its partnership with Prague Shakespeare Company (PSC) in presenting PSC's An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare, based on Homer's Iliad, translated by Robert Fagles, and directed by Main Street Theater Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden and Prague Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Guy Roberts. MST and PSC have been partners and collaborators since 2012. There will be a post-show discussion with Udden and Roberts on Sunday, January 7.

Main Street Theater opens its 42nd Season with Enemies by Maxim Gorky, adapted by David Hare.  Enemies tells the story of Russian society in 1905 when the country sat ready for revolution.  Directed by MST Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden, this collaboration with the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance features a cast of 24, 8 of whom are UH students.

In Prague Shakespeare Company's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, set in World War II Britain, a group of nurses, wounded servicemen and patriots produce a radio broadcast of the Bard's classic to raise morale of the troops on the front. Main Street Theater brings this novel interpretation of the William Shakespeare comedy to its Rice Village location from December 31 to January 15, 2017.

Main Street Theater (MST) opens its 2016 - 2017 MainStage season with the regional premiere of The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson.  'It's a wonderfully theatrical (and hilarious) examination of humanity, fear, feminism, authority, and the power of storytelling,' says MST founder and artistic director Rebecca Greene Udden.  With previews August 28 & 31 and Sept. 1 & 2, The Revolutionists opens September 3 and runs through October 2 at Main Street Theater - Rice Village, 2540 Times Blvd.  Performances are on Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3pm.  Tickets are $39 - $36 (previews are $15 - $10), depending on date and section, and are on sale via phone at 713.524.6706 or online at MainStreetTheater.com. 

Now in its 40th Anniversary Season, Main Street Theater provides theater experiences for all ages. For ages 3 and up, Shrek the Musical continues on Saturdays and Sundays through July 31. The company also stages RFK: A Portrait of Robert Kennedy and Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-A** Wit of Molly Ivins through August 14.

Main Street Theater (MST) presents William Shakespeare's romantic comedy TWELFTH NIGHT, wherein Duke Orsino gets more love than he bargained for in this tangled romantic comedy.

SILENT SKY, the entrancing play by Lauren Gunderson, based on the real-life story of pioneering female astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, shows through December 6 on the Main Street Theater stage.

Main Street Theater (MST) will soon re-open its completely renovated Rice Village home which has been under construction since March of 2015.  This total overhaul of the facility is part of MST's $3.5 million Capital Campaign for the purchase and renovation of the space (2540 Times Blvd. Houston, 77005). 

As part of Brazos Bookstore's Ferrante Fever! An Elena Ferrante Release Party, on Tuesday, September 1, Main Street Theater Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden will read the first chapters of Ferrante's new novel, THE STORY OF THE LOST CHILD.
