Kitchen Theatre Company launches its 2017-2018 Season with Smart People, a sharp and provocative new comedy by Lydia R. Diamond. Summer L. Williams, Associate Artistic Director of Company One Theatre (Boston, MA), directs. Performances of Smart People begin at the Kitchen Theatre Company in The Percy Browning Theatre on September 3.

Drury Lane Theatre announces compete casting for the next show of its 2017-2018 season, the regional premiere of the powerhouse musical tribute to the 1980s, Rock of Ages, with book by Chris D'Arienzo, arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp, and directed by Scott Weinstein.

The Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce its upcoming sketch comedy show The Magic Negro and Other Blackity Blackness as told by an African-American man who also happens to be Black, by and starring Mark Kendall.  The Magic Negro is a hilarious one-man show that looks at representations of the African-American experience in the media.  It will run on the Hertz Stage from March 24 - April 15, 2017.  Opening night is Wednesday, March 29. 

The Hypocrites close its 2016-17 season with Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama WIT. Directed by Marti Lyons, WIT will play January 20 - February 19, 2017 at The Den Theatre's Heath Main Stage, 1329 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Tobin Director-Designer Showcase, a biennial program offered as part of OPERA America's continuing efforts to foster emerging opera artists.
