Kumu Kahua Theatre, in collaboration with Bamboo Ridge Press have announced the May prompt for their monthly play writing contest, Go Try PlayWrite.

The musical may have many flaws, but this is one stellar production of it featuring so many fabulously talented teens.

Due to the very large amount of entries in March this announcement is coming a little later than usual but we are happy to announce that the March Go Try PlayWrite winner is Julia Gillman for her piece Novelty Reboot.

Each month Kumu Kahua Theatre co-sponsors this playwriting contest with Bamboo Ridge Press in their combined effort to nurture local playwrights and authors. The monthly Judges are theatre practitioners from the Hawaii theatre community. All plays submitted are read by Kumu Kahua Theatre Artistic Director, Harry Wong III.

The October Go Try PlayWrite winner is Tyler Miranda for his play  Happy Tanksgive 'Em.

The SHU Community Theatre has launched the Sturges Ridge Century of Cinema, a curated monthly series spotlighting the 20th century's finest films. The Sturges Ridge Century of Cinema, supported by Jewish Senior Services, begins with a red-carpet event prior to the screening of the 1946 holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life on Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m.
