NBC Announces Primetime Schedule For 7/4-10

NBC and the producers of 'America's Got Talent,' premiering June 1 (8-10 p.m. ET), have partnered with YouTube to allow talented acts from across the country to audition online for a shot at performing live on the #1 hit summer series, it was announced today by Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios, and Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of FremantleMedia North America and executive producer of 'America's Got Talent.'

TV Guide is reporting that Howie Mandel has signed on as judge for NBC's AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, replacing departed judge David Hasselhoff who announced last week that he was leaving the show to work on his own venture. Mandel, the Emmy-nominated former 'Deal or No Deal' host will join Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan at the judges' table.

America's Got Talent is, for the uninitiated, an old-fashioned talent show played out from tryout to triumph in fromt of millions of people on their local NBC TV stations.

'America's Got Talent,' NBC's hit summer series from 'American Idol' producers FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell's SYCO Television, returns this summer with the hottest performers from across the country ready to compete in the blockbuster reality show's fourth season. New this season, the multi-talented entertainer/producer and comedian Nick Cannon joins as host. The series will continue to be presided over by the explosive combination of celebrity judges David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan.

Piers Morgan was at the judging table when Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle wowed the audience -- and subsequently the world, via YouTube -- with her stirring, unexpected rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables. He watched as she went all the way to the finals, coming in second place. Morgan wrote an essay in the UK's Daily Mail about his thoughts, hopes and dreams for Susan Boyle. He also remarks that he believes she is ready to be a true 'star.'
