KING KONG Releases Tickets Through January 12

A new block of tickets has been released for Broadway's King Kong. Now on sale through January 12, 2020, King Kong is playing at the Broadway Theatre where it opened on Thursday, November 8 (previews began October 5, 2018).

In celebration of the 86th anniversary of the iconic original film of King Kong, the New York City Mayor's Office will recognize the Broadway musical King Kong and its contribution to the culture of New York City by declaring the area outside of the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd Street) King Kong Court with a ceremonial street renaming on Wednesday, March 6.

Using Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's 1933 cinema classic 'King Kong' as the inspiration for a musical theatre piece really isn't such a bad idea. Among the film's notable achievements is the extraordinary dramatic underscoring music by Max Steiner, that supplied the title character's tragic death plunge from atop the Empire State Building with the kind of heartbreaking emotion that would make any operatic tenor jealous.

Tuesday, August 21, the Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, NY) screened the original 1933 classic King Kong before scheduled to come alive on Broadway this fall. The screening was followed by a Q&A with the Musical Creative Team, including curator Dori Berinstein, director/choreographer Drew McOnie, set & projection designer Peter England, creature designer Sonny Tilders and executive producer Babara Darwall Collins.

This August 21, the Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, NY) will be screening the original 1933 classic King Kong before it comes alive on Broadway this fall.
