Art House Productions Presents HOT WINTER
by A.A. Cristi
- Sep 5, 2018
Art House Productions presents HOT WINTER, featuring our first Artist-in-Residence: Raven Taisce White Founder of the BIRDHOUSE Collective. HOT WINTER follows five humans as they struggle to understand one another, unifying in difference and falling apart in sameness. The performers occupy a world between the real and unreal, moving through confusion, violence, and shifting gravities to find communication through touch and mutually decided blindness. HOT WINTER is a surrealistic look at the performers' collective universe, each of their own worlds vibrating alone within it.

Theatre Raymond Kabbaz Presents THE PEARL OF MARSEILLES

- Jun 1, 2018
Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents La perle de la Canebiere (The Pearl of Marseille). The play is performed by La Troupe du Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK's Gang) and directed by Pierre Leloup. La perle de la Canebiere (The Pearl of Marseille) is a single act comedy, performed for the first time in Paris (Theatre du Palais Royal) in February 1855. The play was written by Eugene Labiche and Marc Michel, both fine observers of the French society of the 19th century. What happens in this pearl ? The action takes place in a very bourgeois and conservative society, greatly unreceptive to poetry and any kind of eccentricity. Thereson Marcasse, the outgoing pearl, the free and generous marseillaise, shatters this incredibly narrow world. The pearl is a bomb of excessiveness in a world of moderation.

He describes the transformed space as “an asylum that is locked up and long forgotten. Visitors must sneak into the Sugatarium through an open window. Institutional beds await the new 'patients' where they can rest and view the artwork while confronting their own dependence on sweets.” At the exhibition opening, for their own safety, visitors will only be allowed to speak with Mr. Anton through a glass partition via a phone intercom system.
