On Monday September 21, 2009, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, and host Julie Halston, announced the 2009 recipients at the Fifth Annual IT Awards Ceremony at New World Stages. Comedic actress Julie Halston hosts the 2009 IT Awards, which honor the best of Off-Off Broadway, tonight at New World Stages at 7:00pm.

On July 20, 2009, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, celebrated it?s fifth birthday and announced the 2009 nominees at its annual sold-out event at the Carmine Street Recreation Center located at 25 Carmine Street.

The Red Fern Theatre Company announces that David Feldshuh's Miss Evers' Boys will run March 19 - April 5, 2009 at the Shell Theater in the Times Square Arts Building. The Red Fern's third show of the 2008-2009 'Season of Secrets' will be directed by Artistic Director Melanie Moyer Williams.

A sold-out audience of over 550 people attended the annual benefit, 'Footlights and Film: A Celebration of the Great Musicals from Stage and Screen,' hosted by Julia Roberts and featuring a special tribute to Angela Lansbury presented by Bernadette Peters, at Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, CT (Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors, Jodi Schoenbrun Carter, managing director) on Monday evening, September 15. The fundraiser grossed $1,407,610, including revenue from tickets, donations and silent auctions.

Award-winning actors Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Lithgow and other celebrities will offer one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences in a silent auction to benefit Westport Country Playhouse (Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors, Jodi Schoenbrun Carter, managing director), at the historic Westport, Connecticut theatre's annual fundraising gala on Monday, September 15. Award-winning author/director Jackie Alexander's 'BIRTHRIGHT' takes place one year after Katrina in Slidell, Louisiana, fifteen miles northeast of New Orleans. 'BIRTHRIGHT' will have its World Premiere at the Billie Holiday Theatre ( 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn) on Friday, May 16th where it will run through Sunday, June 29th.
