ACT of Connecticut will welcome audiences back for their 2021-2022 Season with the record-breaking Broadway smash-hit musical revue, Smokey Joe's Cafe - The Songs of Leiber and Stoller.

The Encore Musical Theatre kicks off a new season of mainstage musicals with the Broadway hit SMOKEY JOE'S CAFÉ. The longest-running revue in Broadway history, the show features a Grammy-winning score by hitmakers, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. You'll be dancing in your seat to such instantly recognizable tunes as On Broadway, Fools Fall in Love, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Love Potion #9 and so many more.

Joining them will be musical director Michael Arrom, Lyman Medeiros on bass, John Ciodini on guitar, and Gene Coye and drums.

The John W. Engeman Theater has announced the cast and creative team for their upcoming production of Smokey Joe's Cafe. Performances begin on Thursday, September 16 and run through Sunday, October 31, 2021.

The Muny is currently presenting Smokey Joe's Cafe! Smokey Joe's Cafe's complete cast includes Charl Brown, Michael Campayno, Mykal Kilgore, Tiffany Mann, Hayley Podschun, Dee Roscioli, Christopher Sams, Nasia Thomas and Jason Veasey.

The Muny in St. Louis' Forest Park opened it 103rd season with a performance of Smokey Joe's Cafe on Monday evening with a near capacity crowd. Smokey Joe's Cafe was Broadway's longest running musical revue and features 39 songs written by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller including Stand by Me, Poison Ivy, Jail House Rock and Spanish Harlem.

The Muny announced today that Broadway’s Dee Roscioli will complete the cast of the theatre’s 103rd season opener, Smokey Joe’s Cafe. The design and production team for the Muny premiere was also announced. Smokey Joe’s Cafe runs July 26 – Aug. 1.

The duo's iconic tracks -- including 'Hound Dog,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' 'Love Potion #9,' and 'Stand By Me,' among many others -- form the basis for the characters' journey in the show, as they grow from high schoolers in the 1950s to adulthood in the 1960s. Their journey is that of our nation, as it took a step toward equality with the passage of the Civil Rights and Voting Acts of 1964 and 1965. The 1960s were a tumultuous period in American history, as the United States fought an increasingly unpopular foreign war in Vietnam and groups that had been historically oppressed sought equal rights and opportunities.  On Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) next Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30pm, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan will present a virtual conversation and musical event focused on the 2011 Broadway musical The People in the Picture, which follows a grandmother recalling her life in the Yiddish Theater in pre-war Poland.
