Dodgers Take FAT CAMP to Playhouse Square for Page to Stage Program in July

This July, PlayhouseSquare returns to collaborating with acclaimed New York based producing agency The Dodgers; an association that has spanned nearly 30 years - starting with country pop/rock hit Pump Boys and Dinettes and reaching such lofty heights with the Tony Award® winning mega-sensation Jersey Boys. This time, in continuing its relationship with The Dodgers and their producing partners Carl Levin and Michael Minarik, PlayhouseSquare is proud to present a rare glimpse into the creation of live theater with Fat Camp. Debuting in 2009 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Fat Camp tells the tale of a summer spent at Camp Overton where secrets, sex, s'mores and self-image collide in a coming-of-age rock musical comedy.

Due to overwhelming demand across North America, the producers have announced a second touring production of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, launching in Philadelphia, PA at the Forrest Theater on December 6, 2011 for a six week engagement. National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) held its Annual Chairman's Awards Gala and benefit last night (Monday, May 2) at the St. Regis New York hotel, raising more than $320,000 for new American theatre. This year, NCTF Chairman James S Turley, Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young, honored Oscar and Tony Award-winner Joel Grey (on Broadway this season in Anything Goes and director of Broadway's The Normal Heart), recipient of the Theater Artist Award, presented to Mr. Grey by Anything Goes director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall; Charles Dillingham (Managing Director, Center Theatre Group, Los Angeles), recipient of the Theater Professional Award, presented by Benjamin Moore (Managing Director of Seattle Repertory Theatre) and Richard Thomas (Race on Broadway and The Public's Timon of Athens); and BNY Mellon, recipient of the Corporate Leadership Award, presented by Tony Award-winning stage and film actress Anika Noni Rose. All net proceeds of the event will be distributed as the NCTF/BNY MELLON FUND FOR NEW AMERICAN THEATRE.

Following six weeks of fierce competition among 20 of California's finest young musical theatre performers, LA's Next Great Stage Star 2011 celebrated Judy Mora's outstanding victory at the 5th annual competition's glittering Finale on Sunday, February 6, presented by Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's, the most critically acclaimed, award-winning supper club of its kind in greater Los Angeles. Runners up included San Francisco's Michael David (2nd place); Matthew McFarland (3rd place); Emily Goglia (4th place); and Reba Buhr (5th place). Broadway World's Dean Butler was there to capture the three and a half hour event ... off and on stage - which also included a Special Guest Star performance by musical theatre, television star and pop composer/singer Blake McIver Ewing.

On Sunday February 6 LA's Next Great Stage Star 2011 held its finale at Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's beginning at 11:30 am. 20 contestants competed in a nonstop round and then the audience and judges voted for the top 5. Points were added together for the entire six weeks of the competition which began January 2. Those named were Michael David, Reba Buhr, Emily Goglia, Judy Mora and Matthew McFarland. There was a thrill-packed final round of singing and then Judy Mora emerged victoriously as the winner. James Lent served as musical director.

The JERSEY BOYS Original Cast Recording also received a 2006 Grammy Award® for Best Musical Show Album. JERSEY BOYS has now grossed over $812 million worldwide and been seen by 9 million people around the world. Over 450,000 people have attended the show in Melbourne to date. JERSEY BOYS - The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, will officially open in Sydney at the Theatre Royal on Saturday 18 September 2010. The season in Melbourne must finish on Sunday 25 July following 453 sell-out performances. There is no extension possible.
