Tippet Rise Art Center today announced the details of its digital summer event Tippet Rise on Tour: August Festival, which will premiere seven short performance films between August 19 and 22. The new films feature classical music performances captured at unusual locations across the country, from a tractor barn in Colorado and Ensamble Studio's Cyclopean House in Massachusetts to the Noguchi Museum in New York City.

Minnesota Orchestra and Music Director Osmo Vänskä will perform two concerts on Friday, May 14 and Friday, May 28 that have been programmed in response to the turbulence in Minneapolis and the world over the past year, particularly with regard to issues of racial equity and police violence against Black Americans. Both concerts will be televised live on Twin Cities PBS (TPT); broadcast live on YourClassical Minnesota Public Radio; and streamed live online for free at minnesotaorchestra.org at 8:00 p.m. CT.

DC’s Studio Theatre is known as a leading contemporary theater, and the subject matter of its current production can scarcely be more so.
Inspired by the police killing of young Michael Brown in 2014 in Ferguson, Mo., and based on dozens of interviews conducted in its aftermath across the city’s communities by playwright Dael Orlandersmith, Under the Flood goes beyond any specific such shooting to explore African American-White relations on a much-broader and emotionally charged scale. The anger and mistrust, the occasional ties of friendship. Personal success and failure amidst social upheaval.
