Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) today announced that Michael J. Bobbitt, who has served as the organization's Artistic Director since 2007, will be stepping down on July 1, 2019. Bobbitt, an award-winning director, choreographer, and playwright, will start a new position as Artistic Director at the New Repertory Theatre in Watertown, MA on August 1.

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recipient of 62 Helen Hayes Nominations, announces that Broadway's Amber Iman will perform at its 2019 Mad Hatter's Honest Tea Party Gala, honoring Seth Goldman, Co-Founder and TeaEO Emeritus of Honest Tea and Executive Chairman of Beyond Meats, on March 14, 2019. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on the ultimate backstage experience to see Broadway's Hamilton, the musical (of which Amber Iman was part of the national cast) and take a backstage tour. Adventure Theatre MTC's 2019 Pre-Professional Company will sing with Amber Iman at the culmination of the evening performing Stephen Schwartz's (Wicked, Godspell) Colors of the Wind.
Adventure Creates Assistant Directors Fellowship for People of Color

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of the Weissberg Foundation's 2016-2019 Fund for Diversity in Theater to engage and expand new voices and audiences in DC-area theatres, announces its commitment to a goal of 50% people of color representation (artists, designers and technicians) in its professional theatre season to better reflect the diversity of our audiences and community. This commitment is part of its EDI initiatives which includes a new Fellowship program for Assistant Directors who are people of color and working with a consensus organizer on its production of Huckleberry Finn's Big River. Recognizing a need in the industry for equity and diversity and to reflect the highly diverse DC and Montgomery County area, Adventure Theatre MTC has already upheld this commitment with its current production of Blueberries for Sal cast and creative team.

Executives from Adventure Theatre MTC's partners in the renovation in addition to the many donors who have made this renovation possible, will gather on October 15th in Glen Echo Park at 10am for a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. Tours of the renovated space will be offered after the ceremony.

Fats Domino once sang, 'I found my thrill, on Blueberry Hill.' He might have been channeling little Sal, the central character in Robert McCloskey's 1948 picture book, Blueberries for Sal. The book which in its almost 70 year existence, has been cited in many best of lists and was an award a Caldecott Honor in 1949. And finally, Adventure Theatre MTC has turned it into a delightful stage adaptation which is now playing through October 21, 2018 at Glen Echo Park.

Florida Playwright Michael Presley Bobbitt (Across the River, Trailer Park Elegy, Ceder Key) has been selected from among hundreds of writers from around the country to produce his play, Sunset Village, in New York City. For the first time, Gainesville Goes Off-Broadway with a full cast and crew. Tom Miller, nationally recognized local actor and performance artist has been selected to direct the production, which will also have a short run after NYC to open the season at the Acrosstown Theatre in Gainesville, Florida.

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2018-2019 season will include the political satire "Born Yesterday," directed by Aaron Posner; the classic American drama "Twelve Angry Men," directed by Sheldon Epps; the musical fairytale "Into the Woods," directed by Peter Flynn; and "A Christmas Carol" with Craig Wallace reprising the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
