FST's hit country musical Cowgirls has been extended through July 17, due to popular demand. The 'energetic' musical is under the direction of Mary Murfitt (concept of COWGIRLS/composer/lyricist) and music direction by Mary Ehlinger (musical arrangments for COWGIRLS), and brings together six talented actresses-singers-musicians 'for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of musical theatre.' Grab your boots and hold onto your cowboy hats, the off-Broadway country musical Cowgirls kicks off the Florida Studio Theatre 2011 Summer Season this June. The musical comedy with a big heart is the brainchild of playwright Mary Murfitt, with music and lyrics by Ms. Murfitt, a book by Betsy Howie, and musical arrangements by Mary Ehlinger. COWGIRLS plays preview performances
June 8 and 9, with a press opening June 10 in the Keating Theatre. Single tickets are priced $32 - $34 and can be purchased online at floridastudiotheatre.org or by calling the box office at (941) 366-9000.

Spring is the Season of Intrigue at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival where heads roll, swords play, love blooms and humor wins the day. Peter Schaffer's hysterical British comedy Lettice & Lovage kicks off the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's spring trio of plays on April 9 followed by Shakespeare's Hamlet on April 16 and All's Well That Ends Well on April 23.
