The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, in a co-presentation with Pomegranate Arts, is thrilled to announce the special guest artists who will perform in Taylor Mac's ambitious, internationally acclaimed work A 24-Decade History of Popular Music. Local Philadelphia performance artists and musicians will join Mac in these final U.S. performances of the full, 24-hour-long pop odyssey, June 2 & 9 at the Kimmel Center's Merriam Theater, as part of the 2018 Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA). Mac will perform A 24-Decade History of Popular Music as two distinct 12-hour concerts, Saturday, June 2 (1776-1896) and Saturday, June 9 (1896-present day) - Mac's longest continuous performances since the work premiered at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn in 2016.

Times Square Arts and Clocktower Productions present Interference AV, a free, three-night festival of video art with UNDERVOLT & CO. and live music that will take place at the AMC Empire 25 on February 19-21 from 8:00 10:00pm, with doors opening at 7:00pm. Sadaf, Irreversible Entanglements, and YATTA will open for headliners Jlin, Lightning Bolt, and the Sun Ra Arkestra.

BRIC, the largest presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, has announced the fall 2017 season at BRIC House, the organization's 40,000 SF home in Downtown Brooklyn.

BRIC is pleased to announce full programming for the 2017 BRIC JazzFest, the third annual edition of the celebrated Brooklyn jazz festival, conceived and curated by Jack Walsh, Lia Crockett and Brice Rosenbloom. As it expands even more in its third year, the Festival continues to deliver on the promise Nate Chinen suggested in The New York Times when he wrote, "Given what's still a limited infrastructure for jazz in Brooklyn, BRIC JazzFest could be an important force for good." The Festival takes place over the course of a week (October 14-21), featuring film, dance, panel discussion and student workshops, and culminates with a three-day concert marathon, with performances taking place simultaneously in the various spaces comprising BRIC House (647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn).

Roulette presents a tremendous 36th Season that highlights their three decades at the helm of experimental music, dance and intermedia. Starting the season by celebrating Sun Ra's Centennial, Roulette opens with The Sun Ra Arkestra directed by Marshall Allen and with Jazz Record's 2013 "Musician of the Year" Nate Wooley as the opener.

Internationally known biologist and writer Dr. Ana Isabel Ordonez is constantly embarking on new projects. Educated in Europe and a self-taught Victorian patchwork maker since the early 90s, Ordonez has presented her work in France and Luxembourg. As a scientist she holds Masters and PhDs in Genetics, Forestry and Animal Biology and has lectured extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Japan, China, New Zealand and South America on insect-plant pathology and biological control research. She has also written several articles on the value of nature. Ordonez, however, has not confined her interests to the world of science. A true Renaissance woman, she is also a reputed jazz editor, independent filmmaker, music/art promoter and producer. In 2012 she contributed tirelessly to the Dizzy Gillespie Memorial tribute with Christopher Kennedy Lawford, because she believes in her heart that true valuable art of any kind must never be forgotten. Five years earlier, in 2005 with trumpeter Herb Robertson she had founded Ruby Flower Records with the plan to produce avant-garde music, exclusively for connoisseurs and purist audiophiles with the slogan 'Creatively speaking...Where the talents blossom'. Only recently she decided to expand the company's offerings to also include poetry and literature for children. Her children's books have been so popular, she has written a new one, continuing the joy of her Musical Forest. Her nephew Geronimo is doing the rest of the illustrations, but Ana still paints every day. The book will be available on Amazon.com in about a month. It will be distributed worldwide.

Today we are talking to a spectacularly talented screenwriter and bookwriter known for his legendary string of onscreen collaborations with Woody Allen as well as for writing and directing films himself in addition to penning the Best Musical Tony Award-winner JERSEY BOYS and others - the accomplished and entertaining Marshall Brickman. Discussing bringing the tale of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons via JERSEY BOYS to the stage as well as the new big screen movie musical adaptation that is currently finishing filming, Brickman outlines his role in the international stage sensation and what we can expect from the highly anticipated celluloid creation on the way in 2014. Besides JERSEY BOYS, Brickman also sheds some light on the ongoing success of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, touring the country and performed around the world. Plus, Brickman shares first details on his new musical project, a biomusical based on the life of legendary 20th century American entertainer Roy Rogers. Additionally, Brickman details the finer points of his decades-spanning collaboration with Woody Allen on an incomparable assortment of modern comedy classics, including MANHATTAN, SLEEPER, MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY and the iconic, Best Picture Academy Award-winning ANNIE HALL, for which he and Allen received the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Jazz at Lincoln Center concludes a milestone 25th anniversary concert season with Swinging With The Big Bands, special concert events in The Allen Room continuing June 13 at 7pm & 9pm. Swinging With The Big Bands celebrates the 1930s, an era when singers like Frank Sinatra, Billy Eckstine, Ivie Anderson, Dan Grissom, and Dick Powell inflamed hearts around the globe. Spectrum proudly presents the American-Canadian quartet of Peter Evans (trumpet), Charity Chan (piano), Weasel Walter (drums) and Tom Blancarte (double bass) on Thursday, May 30th at 7pm as they embrace their multiplicity of roots and influences, deftly subverting prevailing musical conventions. Straddling the worlds of jazz, rock and punk, and skirting against the borders of precision oriented metal and free-noise, this improv-based foursome are not only about being full-throttle. That's just the easy out. Sure, you could stylize this music as aggressive, high-energy and in-your-face; sounds that luxuriate in their own excess and technical prowess (whatever that may be).

IN + OUT RECORDS, one of Europe's independent jazz labels, announced today, May 6, that there will now be a U.S. National distribution through the Allegro Music Group. Scheduled new releases for the distribution include Billy Cobham, Odean Pope, Sun Ra and James Blood Ulmer.
