Today, November 1, Target First Saturday celebrates the thriving art community of Brooklyn and our exhibition Crossing Brooklyn: Art from Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, and Beyond through artist projects, music, and performances. Highlights include music by PitchBlak Brass Band and Brooklyn Bodega; projects by Crossing Brooklyn artists Bryan Zanisnik, Nobutaka Aozaki, and Project EATS; and a UnionDocs presentation of the Living Los Sures project, a collaborative web documentary about the changing landscape of South Williamsburg.

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Gallery Aferro Team for 'Artist Box' Initiative

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Gallery Aferro will partner for Artist Box, a unique initiative that will bring artists from the Newark-based art gallery to NJSO performances in Newark throughout the 2014-15 season and culminate in May with a Gallery Aferro exhibit of works inspired by the artists' concert experiences.

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University has announced its 2014 Humanities events. The events, produced in tandem with CATF's July 11-August 3 repertory season, will feature playwrights Christina Anderson, Charles Fuller (winner of the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama), Thomas Gibbons, Bruce Graham, and Chisa Hutchinson; CATF will also host guest speakers Miranda Petersen (Protect Our Defenders Foundation), Bruce Duncan and the Bina48 Artificial Intelligence unit (Terasem Movement Foundation), Theresa M. Davis (University of Virginia), Dr. Julia Sandy-Bailey (Shepherd University), and David Leong (Theatre VCU).
